I ordered these knife scales almost as soon as they came out. I was pleased that the anodizing and engraving were free. I also found a promo code for 25% off. At first glance, everything seemed great, but when we started installing them, some issues emerged. For those who don't want to read too much, I'll simply say that Metonboss just took their standard Manix scales, added a backspacer, and released new scales for the lightweight version.
The first thing that caught my eye was that one of the scales had a line running along its entire length, resembling a solder joint, like on plastic. Visually, if you look closely, it suggests a defect. The second and most important issue is that the backspacer is 0.17 mm thicker, resulting in a gap between the scales and the knife's factory spacer. This prevents proper assembly of the knife. They might have added a little more space for the ball cage, but we didn't measure it precisely, which could have affected the spring's performance.
I also had trouble attaching the clip from your manufacturer. Firstly, the screws didn't fit. Secondly, the threads for the screws were damaged (laced to one side), so I couldn't screw them in until I re-threaded them. This was very frustrating.
Overall, I'd give it a 4/5 for the visual aspect (that hole in the edge ruined it). But for the overall execution and component selection, I'd give it a 2/5. The grips are new, they're more expensive than for the standard Manix, and the quality is similar to the blemished ones from AWT (but they're half the price!).
